The installation is entitled The Godsend is finished! a much used expression of Matteo Salvini.
The work represents the ex Minister of the Interior in a green T shirt with the number 49 on it, pointing a toy pistol from which flutters a flag with “game over” written on it, at a pair of zombies of colour, shipwrecked on a small raft. The aim of the scene is to represent a videogame in which the ex-minister is a bitter player who simulates the obsessive battle against immigrants, perceived by him as and his political propaganda as threatening monsters. His actions in this sense assume the appearance of a real and absolute crusade with its religious overtones. He has remembered his rosary which he grasps in
his left hand, a religious symbol which the very same Salvini often exhibits in his public outings.
The association between politics and the game is the metaphor of the work. The populist verbal verbal utterances of racial superiority become a dangerous instrument when used by a politician in continuous confrontation, reduced as a whole to a victor’s game, soliciting hate from the masses against an enemy which must be fought, albeit unable to defend itself and overall weak.
