Mamma Negra is a multi coloured sculpture in terracotta of a pregnant woman of colour who imploringly raises her right hand while the other tightly holds her womb. Maternity is a strong theme which often accompanies a woman forced to flee from her land, raped and made pregnant by the torturers who “run” the human trafficking. A drama within a drama, which, without guidance, has an epilogue yet more tragic at the bottom of the sea.
